    The Role:

    • As a SEND Casework Officer, you will continue Liverpool's commitment to ensuring that children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities have a positive educational experience. We are looking for an individual to work in support of pupils with Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plans. This will involve carrying out the statutory assessment and EHC Plan review process, ensuring children and young people are placed and supported suitably in line with relevant legislation
    • You will, as a SEND Casework Officer, be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people under assessment for EHC plans and a cohort of children and young people with EHC plans already in place. You will be the first point of contact for families, providing excellent customer service, and demonstrating good interpersonal skills in order to foster and maintain positive and effective working relationships with families and professionals
    • The post holder will work in partnership with other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people and should have experience of working as part of a team, including multi-agency teams
    • As a SEND Casework Officer, you will be able to work under your own initiative on a specified caseload and as part of a wider team to statutory timescales and deadlines and be expected to use all aspects of ICT, including Microsoft Office Suite
    • You will have excellent mediation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to work effectively under pressure in addition to extensive experience of casework, including supporting families and legal challenges
    • Working experience and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the Children and Families Act 2014 and all associated legislation, including SENDIST regulations, will be required
