    About the role:

    A full-time experienced administrator with experience of clerking school admission appeals is required to perform the role of independent clerk to Secondary Transfer and Reception Intake admission appeals, including producing letters for each appeal, from 20 April to 31 August 2026.

    About you:

    You will have:

    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the DfE Code for School Admissions and School Admission Appeals and the legal framework governing school admissions and appeals
    • Previous experience in the clerking of school appeals or similar hearings, or a background in Committee work
    • A good standard of education is required, at least to GCSE level or equivalent
    • Previous experience of working with the public and minute or note taking
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Able to remain calm and firm working in a demanding environment , who is a good team player with a flexible approach to work
    • As a School Admission Appeal Clerk, you will advise the Panel on points of law and procedure, as necessary
    • to ensure parties have a fair and independent hearing and that the decisions are made within the law and based on the information available.
    • You’ll also explain the process and procedure to parents to ensure that they understand and can fully engage with the process.

    Appeals are currently being heard remotely via Microsoft Teams so you will need a reliable internet connection and relevant IT skills to enable you to take part and assist parties in joining the appeals.
