
School Operations & Administration Officer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive School Operations & Administration Officer to play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of our school.
This is a varied and fast-paced position combining front-of-house responsibilities with operational and administrative oversight. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and staff, while also taking ownership of key systems including attendance, pupil records, MIS, communication systems and school-wide ordering. You will be responsible for completing and submitting attendance data returns to the Local Authority and Department for education, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting deadlines.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and Headteacher, you will ensure that administrative systems run efficiently and that the school office provides a professional, welcoming, and effective service.
The role is based in a small school office, working independently on a day-to-day basis; therefore, the postholder must be confident working alone in a compact and busy setting. This role requires strict adherence to confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding procedures, with a commitment to promoting the welfare and safety of all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and external stakeholders
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, including visitor sign-in and site checks
- Manage the school communications systems, ensuring incoming communications are responded or redirecting as appropriate
- Oversee, maintain and monitor daily attendance processes for both pupils and staff
- Maintain accurate pupil and staff records on the MIS and LA reporting system
- Add new pupils and staff to systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate and manage school-wide ordering, stock, and consumables
- Receive and distribute post, deliveries, and orders
- Support and send communications to parents/carers via school systems as directed by SLT
- Ensure smooth day-to-day office operations in line with school priorities

Salary range
- £24,458 - £30,286 per year
