Job description

Are you an experienced and dedicated professional looking for a challenging and rewarding role within a forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Service Manager for Safeguarding to join our Adult Social Care Service, reporting to the Service Director for Adult Social Care. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality services and make a positive impact on the lives of our local community.

The Role

As the Service Manager for Safeguarding, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the Safeguarding Team, ensuring the effective delivery of safeguarding services to adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies to promote and ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals.
  • Overseeing the operation of the Safeguarding Adults Board and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitoring and evaluating safeguarding activity, providing reports and analysis to the Service Director and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the effective management of risks and complex cases, providing expert advice and guidance to staff.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of services through participation in quality assurance processes and service reviews.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of safeguarding adults' issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering positive outcomes for service users.
  • A relevant professional qualification and registration (e.g. Social Work England) is essential.
