REVENUES OFFICER (BENEFITS)

Salary: Grade D - £26,824 to £29,540 per year, £13.90 to £15.31 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Team Location: Ilkeston Town Hall, Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 5RP

About the Job:
As a Revenues Officer, you will play a crucial role in assessing and processing benefit claims for residents. You will provide advice and support to claimants, ensuring they understand their entitlements and the application process. As you develop your knowledge and expertise, the role will require you to be involved in council tax and business rates to support residents to meet their liabilities and avoid indebtedness. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and processing housing benefit and council tax support claims accurately and efficiently.
- Providing clear and comprehensive advice to claimants regarding their entitlements and council tax liability.
- Conducting interviews over the telephone and face to face to gather necessary information.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring data confidentiality.
- Liaising with other departments and external agencies to verify information.
- Staying informed about changes in legislation and policy affecting benefits and council tax.
About You:
- Previous experience in a similar role or a strong understanding of benefit and or council tax systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and databases.
- A commitment to providing high-quality service to the community.
