About the role

With residential and commercial development within the district likely to increase significantly over the next few years, St Albans City and District Council are looking to recruit two Revenues Inspectors – 1 full-time (37 hours per week), 1 part-time (18.5 hours per week). Both roles will work as part of the Revenues and Benefits Technical Team and will play a key role in ensuring the Local Authority maximise the collection of both Council Tax and Business Rates by carrying out inspections in respect of new and existing developments.

Working with internal and external sources, including the Planning Department and the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), you will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of approximately 65,000 Council Tax and 4,000 Business Rate Accounts

About you

You will have experience of working in a Revenues environment with an up-to-date knowledge of current Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates legislation.

You will have a full, clean driving licence with access to a vehicle and a willingness to carry out inspections of both residential and commercial properties across the district.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative to strict deadlines whilst managing a substantial caseload.
