Billing and collection of Council Tax has never been more important here at Woking and we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to join our Council Tax Team as a Revenue Officer on a permanent basis.
The Revenue Officer will be part of a team responsible for the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates. You will be customer focused, empathetic but assertive and confident in communicating both verbally and in writing, in order to deliver successful outcomes for customers and for the Council.
The Team currently work on a rota basis which involves a combination of home and office working.
Reporting to the Revenues Team Leader, the Revenues Officer will support the Customer Service team by providing advice and support for Council Tax and Business Rates queries. The role will also help to maintain our records so that we can issue bills promptly and accurately. This will include:
· Setting up new accounts and closing old accounts
· Granting exemptions and discounts
· Taking payments
· Answering both written and verbal enquiries
· Assisting in activities relating to the billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates
The successful applicant will be flexible, adaptable and possess the ability to learn complex legislation. Previous experience of working within a Revenues/Customer Service environment is desirable although not essential, as full training is provided. You will be working from the office primarily to ensure you are supported into the role, until you have the skills and confidence to work independently.
