This is your chance to be at the heart of community safety, helping Croydon be aware, prepare, respond swiftly and recover stronger from major incidents.

About the Role

As a Resilience Officer, you will be a crucial partner in shaping Croydon’s resilience and emergency readiness by:

  • Developing and maintaining vital emergency and business continuity plans to keep essential services running.
  • Being part of our 24 / 7 incident responses support as a Duty Resilience Advisor, your calm and clear-headed advice and decision taking will make all the difference when it counts most.
  • Advising senior leaders, councillors, and partners with clear, actionable guidance to keep everyone informed and coordinated.
  • Designing and delivering training and exercises that drive real improvements, identifying and embedding lessons.
  • Building and nurturing strong networks and relationships with emergency services, local organisations, schools, contractors and communities, fostering a united front for community resilience.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Possesses a fundamental understanding of resilience, emergency management and business continuity.
  • Understands that emergencies impact individuals personally and puts people at the heart of every decision and action.
  • Communicates confidently and clearly, especially in pressure situations.
  • Has hands-on experience turning policies and plans into effective actions.
  • Works collaboratively and builds strong connections at every level—from senior colleagues to community partners.
  • Stays calm, thinks critically, and solves problems quickly during high-stress situations.
  • Is flexible and ready to contribute to an emergency response 24/7 rota that includes evenings and weekends.

Why Croydon Council?

This is more than just a job, it’s a chance to make a tangible impact on the safety and resilience of an entire community. You’ll join a passionate, committed team dedicated to delivering real-world outcomes.
