Salary: £53,460 - £58,506 (Grade 10 , SCP 42-46 )
Castle Point Borough Council are keen to appoint a Repairs Manager to work in the Housing Services Directorate, to lead and inspire a team to deliver a resident focused, data led, performance driven repairs service. Working as part of team to manage the responsive repairs, voids, disrepair, across the council housing and sheltered stock. Ensuring that the homes are maintained in accordance with agreed quality standards. You will contribute to ensuring the delivery of a customer focused, effective and value for money service, reflecting the highest standards of service excellence.
Please note that this role will be based in the council offices and will require regular travel to sites in the borough, driving Licence, suitable own transport with business insurance is required

- Demonstratable knowledge of building construction, housing repairs, with a solid understanding of construction principles and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of construction and maintenance within a Social Housing environment, understanding the unique challenges and requirements.
- You will have experience of handling complaints and ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement is imbedded with the team that you lead
- General understanding of key compliance areas within housing, such as Asbestos, Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Water Hygiene, or Lift Safety, and a willingness to develop knowledge further.
- Understanding of data management and the importance of accurate record-keeping and certification storage.
- You will have an understanding of the legislation as it relates to the statutory housing functions and have experience of working in the rented property sector.
- Familiarity with contractor performance monitoring, KPIs, and remedial tracking processes
- You will have knowledge and experience of the Section 20 leaseholder process, to manage leasehold tenancies that are affected by repair works.
- You will have knowledge of statutory and construction requirements in relation to the Statutory Landlord Compliance with respect to the management damp and mould, asbestos, water hygiene, fire risk, electrical safety, gas safety, radon and lifts, together with an understanding of the requirements of health & safety legislation in relation to a repair and voids service.
Experience
- Significant experience in a similar role within Local government or other social housing provider is essential.
- Demonstratable knowledge and experience of all of relevant consumer standards, in relation to social housing repairs and maintenance workstreams, experience all related compliance regulations, and audit reports and recommendations relating to regulatory compliance, and data protection.
- Knowledge and experience of social housing repairs, including knowledge of the HHSRS and associated hazards and risks within domestic properties
- Knowledge of maintenance of housing buildings, sheltered housing, supported sheltered housing, leaseholder properties and privet sector Landlords.
- Experience working in a compliance-related, technical, or business support role within a housing, property, or local authority setting
- Experience of using technology to maintain data systems and information
- Awareness and experience of health and safety principles in a repairs and housing service
- Experience of using housing or compliance IT systems, particularly for managing certification, orders, and data updates.
- Experience assisting in the delivery of resident-focused services that support health and safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Membership of a professional body e.g. IFE, IFSM, IOSH, RICS, ASCP, CIH – Desirable
- Driving Licence, suitable own transport with business insurance, ability to work from other offices as required.
