    Job introduction

    We’re looking for a team of Rehousing Officers to deliver our Large Panel System (LPS) rehousing programme across three regeneration sites in Brighton and Hove. This is a key role, responsible for making sure residents are supported through a major change and that our housing services remain responsive, fair, and high quality.

    Much of the work will be on site in the 8 LPS blocks, visiting residents in their homes and communities, and attending resident meetings, drop ins/events, as well as being office based some of the time. There will be some evening and occasional weekend work with time off given in lieu in accordance with BHCC policies.

    About the role

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Providing complex legal information, advice and guidance to residents on their housing options, legal obligations, responsibilities and tenancy related issues.
    • Being the single point of contact for named households and providing practical support through the end-to-end rehousing process, from housing assessment to moving into alternative accommodation.
    • Co-ordinating a tailored package of support and advice to meet the care, support and safeguarding needs of vulnerable households.
    • Working closely with other housing teams to address legal and tenancy related issues and ensure that households are "move ready".
    • Building strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders and working collaboratively
    • Representing the service at resident and other stakeholder meetings
    • Accurate casework recording, and reporting key information on our ICT systems
    • Tracking and reporting progress across multiple households, to ensure alignment with team activity/the project plan for each regeneration site.

    What we’re looking for:

    • Experience of delivering a customer focused service gained within a housing management or similar field.
    • Good knowledge of housing and tenancy law, and understanding of housing management /statutory landlord functions
    • Confidence in handling sensitive and complex tenancy issues in a trauma informed way.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of the issues and barriers for vulnerable people with a wide range of needs and /or disabilities; and safeguarding protocols for those at risk of harm or abuse.
    • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement abilities.
    • Ability to manage priorities and own workload and use ICT systems
    • Ability to work independently/flexibly and as part of a team in the community as well as office based settings.

    Additional information

    Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
