
Refugee Resettlement Officer
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Housing team as a Refugee Resettlement Officer. This rewarding role places you at the heart of a person-centred programme supporting individuals and families through Government resettlement and relocation schemes.
You will be working collaboratively with local communities, partner agencies, and internal teams to deliver holistic, tailored support for resettled individuals, along with:
Offering guidance to help refugees access vital services, secure suitable housing, and successfully integrate into the wider community.
Promoting equality, community cohesion, and cultural awareness across Ashford.
Managing and monitoring support plans with clear goals, liaise with landlords to ensure safe and affordable accommodation, and carry out welfare checks on vulnerable clients.
Maintaining accurate records, ensure safeguarding compliance, and remain up to date with welfare reform and Home Office integration duties.
Building strong partnerships with the DWP, local employers, and voluntary groups to secure employment opportunities.
It is necessary for you to be available for occasional emergency callouts and represent the Council at meetings, conferences, and public events.
To be competent in this role it is essential that you have proven experience supporting vulnerable individuals, with a strong understanding of the UK welfare system, along with having:
Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills$ûespecially with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with resettlement support, safeguarding practices, and engaging diverse communities.
A flexible, empathetic, and proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
