Hybrid Working (minimum one day per week in the office)
Salary: Scale 5, SCP 17–21 (£31,022 – £33,143 per annum)

We are seeking motivated and professional individuals to join our Recovery Team.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position within our Revenues and Recovery Service. You will be responsible for the collection of outstanding Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Rents and other income owed to the Council.

Key duties include:

  • Negotiating payment arrangements with customers and maintaining accurate records
  • Deciding appropriate recovery actions in line with legislation and policy
  • Liaising with customers, internal departments, Enforcement Agents and advice agencies
  • Preparing documentation for court proceedings and supporting hearings
  • Administering recovery processes including reminders, summonses, enforcement and insolvency

Experience of using a revenues IT system is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

What We Are Looking For

  • Recent experience in debt recovery or collections within the public or private sector
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and ideally a revenues or collections system
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to negotiate sensitively in challenging situations
  • Awareness of equality and diversity and the ability to respond appropriately to individual needs
