
Receptionist - Innovation Centre Medway
We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer‑focused Innovation Centre Receptionist to join our Front of House team on a part time basis.
This role is the first point of contact for tenants, visitors and stakeholders at Innovation Centre Medway, playing a key role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. You will provide excellent front‑of‑house cover and seamless service delivery throughout the week.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate the main reception desk, welcoming tenants and visitors in person, by phone and by email
- Provide advice, support and information to Innovation Centre tenants, virtual tenants, Innovation Studio tenants and other visitors
- Manage meeting room bookings and prepare meeting and conference facilities
- Handle post, enquiries and tenancy‑related queries professionally and efficiently
- Liaise with contractors and support issue resolution
- Manage and support front‑of‑house IT systems such as door entry system, telephones, AV equipment, franking machine, photocopier and scanner.
- Provide administrative support across Innovation Centre activity, including finance, property and café services
- Support the Front of House Manager and Centre Manager with ad‑hoc tasks as required
You will work collaboratively to ensure continuity, clear communication and consistently high standards of service.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident dealing with a wide variety of customers
- Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Detail‑focused, reliable and professional
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
- Experienced in a reception or customer‑facing environment
You’ll also bring strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Working Pattern
This position is part time, working an alternating pattern of:
- 2 days one week
- 3 days the following week
This pattern will alternate on an ongoing basis to provide consistent front‑of‑house cover.
The hours are 9.30 am - 5.30 pm.
As part of the arrangement, the post holder will also be expected to provide holiday cover, by agreement, to ensure uninterrupted reception services.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. The salary you will be offered will be at level A. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.

Innovation Centre are seeking a part time Receptionist to join the team at level A. This is the entry point of the role, so you will need to be able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, experience and skills to get you started, but you will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.
