About the London Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH London)

ADPH London represents Directors of Public Health (DsPH) in London’s 32 local authorities and the City of London, supporting them to improve and protect the health of local populations. Through ADPH London, DsPH work together to address issues that can either only be successfully tackled on a pan-London basis, and/or that enhance the ability of boroughs to meet their responsibilities locally. In 2021, ADPH London published a position statement highlighting racism as a public health issue, given the immediate and structural factors that impact diverse communities, and developed an action plan to support Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities during and beyond COVID-19.

City and Hackney Public Health is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated programmes and projects officer, primarily to support a high profile pan-london public health programme called the https://www.adph.org.uk/networks/london/public-health-tackling-racism-and-inequality-programme/ which is funded by the London Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH London).

As a Programmes and Projects Officer, you will be based in the City & Hackney Public Health service, but work collaboratively with the London Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH London) and core programme team. You will quickly establish relationships across these teams to ensure the programme's objectives are met. You will work closely with external partners across the voluntary, statutory and business sectors, as well as with local residents, to support the efficient and operational functions of the team.

You will support the delivery of public health business processes and systems required specifically to ensure the efficient running of the ADPH London programme. You will provide project management, business support, and ensure external enquiries and administrative duties are fulfilled in accordance with expectations and priorities.

You will be embedded within the City and Hackney Public Health Service, and work closely with programme sponsors, the London Association of Directors of Public Health and local partners including London Councils, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, NHS England/Improvement London and the Greater London Authority.

You will be able to work flexibly, adapt to the evolving demands of the role, and be comfortable managing tasks both independently and within various teams. You will also be proficient in handling competing priorities.

If you have a passion for tackling health inequalities in London and would like to discuss the role, please contact phtri@cityandhackneyph.hackney.gov.uk
