About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Planning Officer (Policy) to play a vital role in delivering a busy planning policy service. You will support the Planning Policy Manager, deputising in their absence, and lead on complex, sensitive, and corporate projects. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future development of the Borough through the Local Plan and related policy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on complex planning policy projects and negotiations.
• Monitor and review the Local Plan and related frameworks.
• Prepare reports, guidance, and statements on planning policy matters.
• Represent the Council at meetings, inquiries, and public exhibitions.
• Provide expert planning policy advice to colleagues, Members, and the public.
• Manage and mentor team members when required.
• Contribute to regeneration and enhancement programmes.

About You
You will have:

• A recognised degree in Town Planning and RTPI membership.
• Significant post-qualification experience in planning policy.
• Strong knowledge of planning policy law and procedures.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively in a team environment.
