Introduction

What’s the role?
To deliver high-quality property surveying services across the Council’s housing stock, carrying out inspections, diagnosing defects, preparing specifications, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of HRA capital and remedial works.
The Property Services Surveyor will support the Senior Property Surveyor with complex cases, contribute to contractor management, and provide technical expertise to ensure a safe, compliant, and customer-focused repairs and planned maintenance service

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Property Surveyor with experience delivering high‑quality surveying services across a diverse local authority housing portfolio, including occupied and void properties.
The ideal candidate will be confident in carrying out a wide range of inspections such as responsive repairs, damp and mould, HHSRS hazards, building defects, voids, and stock condition surveys, with the ability to diagnose root causes accurately.
You will be expected to prepare clear, detailed work specifications, schedules and drawings, and to scope, specify, and raise works orders using schedules of rates or composite values.
Strong contract and performance management skills are essential, including monitoring contractor delivery to ensure quality, value for money, and compliance with specifications.
The role requires the ability to support responses to escalated complaints, Members’ enquiries and complex cases, working collaboratively under the guidance of a Senior Surveyor.
We are seeking someone who can balance technical expertise with effective communication and teamwork to help deliver safe, compliant, and well‑maintained homes for residents.
Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
Special conditions
- HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent experience
- This job is subject to a basic DBS disclosure
- Full driving licence desirable as on-site work in the borough will be required

Salary
£52,269 - £54,360 per annum (P04)
N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
