We are looking for an experienced Property and Regeneration Lawyer with a proven track record in public sector work to join our Legal Services Team. Whether you’ve worked directly in local government or in private practice supporting public sector clients, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to some complex and high value matters.

The Council is also preparing for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). This role will play an important part in supporting the Council during this period of change and transition.

Utilising skills and experience gained within a similar position, you will report to the Property and Regeneration Legal Team Manager and work with them, being responsible for your own caseload covering a wide range of Property and Regeneration matters and advising on Cabinet and other decision reports. You will provide specialist and technical advice on high-profile and transformational projects linked to the Council’s property portfolio and regeneration agenda and delivery plan. You will handle a large and varied caseload of complex and strategically important projects, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to deliver at pace including work arising from LGR. Where appropriate, instruct external law firms to act on behalf of the Council, acting as the single point of contact and ensuring Rushmoor gets value for money.

You will review, interpret, draft and negotiate leases, licences and contracts and produce legally comprehensive advice, in language accessible to a range of audiences, and offer risk-assessed solutions.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister. Experience in a local authority or public sector environment is desirable but not essential.

To apply, please submit your CV and a supporting statement explaining how you meet the requirements of the role to recruitment@rushmoor.gov.uk or apply via this recruitment portal.

This vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate is appointed. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
