We are seeking a friendly, organised and proactive Project Volunteer Coordinator to support an exciting museum cataloguing project. In this role, the post holder will coordinate a dedicated team of volunteers while working closely with the Curatorial team to support the cataloguing, documentation and care of museum collections.

The successful applicant will play a key role in recruiting, inducting, training and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel confident and valued in contributing to the project. Alongside coordinating day-to-day volunteer activity, the job role includes assisting curatorial staff with cataloguing processes. This will involve helping to ensure objects are accurately recorded, documented and handled in line with museum standards.

We’re looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, experience of working with volunteers, and a collaborative, inclusive approach. Knowledge of museums or the heritage sector would be an advantage.

This is a part time (22 hours per week), 18 month fixed term contract based primarily at Museum of Chelmsford’s collection stores, offering the chance to make a meaningful contribution to community engagement and local heritage. Precise working days and times to be agreed with the appointed individual.

Please note should sufficient applications be received prior to the closing date, we may close the role for applications early.
