Private Sector Housing Manager - Lead and Innovate in Adur & Worthing

Adur & Worthing Councils are seeking a motivated and experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to join our dedicated team. This is a key opportunity to manage vital services and contribute to the strategic development of private sector housing and environmental health within our community.

About the Role:

As Private Sector Housing Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Assistant Director of Housing & Homelessness Prevention to manage the Council's Private Sector Housing and Housing grants teams on a day-to-day basis. Your focus will be on ensuring the service remains relevant, cost-effective, and customer-focused. A significant aspect of this role involves ensuring the Councils meet their statutory responsibilities concerning housing in the private sector, encompassing owner-occupied and tenanted properties.

We encourage new approaches to service delivery, aiming to innovate and develop our offerings in line with changes to central government policy and emerging local housing needs. You will provide effective supervision to your teams and maintain control over budgets, quality, and performance within the service. Adur & Worthing Councils are committed to a new operating model that integrates digital and data at the core of the organisation. As a leader, you will be expected to champion this shift, ensuring your practice and service demonstrably adopt new ways of working. Additionally, you will embed our core principles of resilience, adaptability, and participation into the daily working practices of your team.

If this sounds like the role you have been looking for, we look forward to receiving your application!

At Adur & Worthing, we are committed to supporting care leavers, in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. To that end, we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for anyone meeting the essential criteria of the role they are applying for. In order to be considered for this, you will need to be a care leaver under the age of 25 at the time of application. Please confirm that you are a care leaver in the "Showing how you meet the person specification and job description" section of the application form.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of applicants declaring a disability, that meet the essential criteria for this position, will be offered an interview.

Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
