Are you ready to take the next step in your housing enforcement career? We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Team Leader to support the delivery of our Private Sector Housing Enforcement service.

As Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day supervision of a small team of enforcement officers, ensuring that casework is progressing efficiently and in line with legislation and policy. You’ll provide technical guidance, support officer development, and help maintain high standards of service delivery.

This role is ideal for someone with strong operational knowledge of housing enforcement who enjoys mentoring others and ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support enforcement officers in their daily work
  • Allocate and monitor workloads and performance
  • Provide technical advice and quality assurance on enforcement cases
  • Assist in developing procedures and training
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer or Practitioner
  • Registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
  • Experience in housing enforcement
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation and enforcement tools
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support team wellbeing

The post holders will be highly motivated, flexible individuals, with excellent customer service skills, able to communicate with people at different levels as appropriate. You will be working with and supporting other team members with complex cases.

Benefits include flexible, hybrid working, 25 days annual leave increasing to 28 days after 5 years and 31 days after 10 years of continuous Local Government service.

This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract.
