Salary: £55,323.00 to £57,402.00 per annum

About the Role

Are you passionate about protecting consumers, promoting fair trading, and tackling rogue traders? Join Ealing Council’s Trading Standards Team as a Principal Officer and take the lead in delivering high impact enforcement and compliance work.

As a senior member of the team, you will drive activity across one or more specialist areas, including Weights and Measures, playing a key role in upholding trading standards legislation and supporting a fair and vibrant local economy. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding residents and ensuring businesses operate responsibly.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will:

  • Lead complex investigations and take enforcement action where necessary
  • Inspect business premises to ensure legal compliance
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to local businesses
  • Manage and deliver targeted projects and initiatives
  • Work independently while managing a diverse and demanding caseload

About You

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced professional who can make an immediate impact. You will have:

  • Full qualification as a Trading Standards Officer with Weights and Measures
  • Significant experience in criminal investigations and prosecution work within an intelligence-led framework
  • Strong technical and legal knowledge, with the ability to manage complex cases effectively
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing and preparation of legal documents
  • The ability to support and develop colleagues through supervision and mentoring
