We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Policy and Research Officer to join our team and play a central role in shaping the future of our borough.

This is a senior, career graded post, offering progression opportunities based on your skills, experience and impact. As a Principal Policy and Research Officer you’ll:-

  • Help lead the work of the Council’s Policy and Research function – supporting the development of a range of officers
  • Lead the Council’s work to develop and local policies and strategies which make a positive impact on Knowsley’s communities.
  • Support Elected Members and senior decision makers to interpret and respond to the Government’s policy agenda.
  • Work directly with a range of Council services to shape their work to deliver the Knowsley Council Plan
  • Work with range of local and national partners to ensure the delivery of and Knowsley 2030 strategy and maximise opportunities for Knowsley’s communities.

We’re looking someone who can work at pace and manage multiple priorities, while keeping sight of the bigger picture. You’ll bring:

  • Strong skills in research and interpretation of national and local policy - with the ability to translate complex information to a range of audiences.
  • Evidence of developing impactful strategies in a complex policy landscape.
  • A collaborative approach with experience in working with a range of stakeholders and developing productive relationships
  • Experience working with elected representatives and senior decision makers
  • A passion for public service and a commitment to delivering for Knowsley’s communities.
