
Principal Lawyer – Property & Planning
Location: Lynton House/Town Hall, Ilford, IG1
Permanent – Full Time
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a highly experienced, Principal Lawyer Property & Planning to join the Council to provide a comprehensive and professional legal service.
You will report to the Chief Legal Officer within the Legal Department. You will also work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.
Responsibilities -
- You will manage the Property & Planning Legal Team
- Provide expertise and knowledge of, and provide advice and guidance and practical assistance on, property and planning matters including, all landlord and tenant act matters, deeds of easement/wayleaves collective enfranchisement and leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning and other such agreements.
- Conduct of the Council’s legal caseload in respect of the area of specialism and related project matters.
- To have conduct of the Council’s most complex legal matters.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar legal qualification and authorised to conduct legal work.
- Have experience of conducting legal matters in the relevant area of law.
- Advocacy experience in relevant areas of law.
- Experience of advising in local government or similar environment.
- Ability to manage a team of lawyers.

Salary range
- £65,181 - £68,784 per year
