This is a pivotal role in ensuring Barnsley’s young people have access to high-quality, inclusive education and training opportunities that align with local, regional and national skills strategies. You’ll be working at the heart of our ambition to make Barnsley the place of possibilities.

    Your role in our journey

As Post 16 Provision and Partnerships Manager, you’ll lead the development and delivery of Barnsley’s approach to Post 16 education and training. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, schools, colleges, training providers and regional partners to ensure our provision is accessible, sufficient and of the highest quality.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    · Leading strategic planning and commissioning of Post 16 education and training.

    · Forging strong partnerships across the education, employment and skills landscape.

    · Identifying and resolving gaps in provision to support the raising participation duty.

    · Driving continuous improvement through robust evaluation and performance management.

    · Leading internal youth employment programmes and work experience initiatives.

    · Supporting vulnerable groups, including young people with SEND, into positive pathways.

    · Managing budgets and resources effectively to maximise impact.

    · Using data and insights to inform strategy and predict future needs.

    What you’ll bring

    · Significant experience in the Post 16 education sector, including strategy development and partnership working.

    · Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

    · Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

    · A deep understanding of relevant legislation, policy and commissioning frameworks.

    · A commitment to inclusive practice and improving outcomes for all young people.

    · A relevant Level 6 qualification (and ideally Level 7), with evidence of continued professional development.

    Why join us?

    · Be part of a high-performing council with a growing economy and thriving communities.

    · Competitive salary and excellent pension scheme.

    · Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.

    · A chance to shape the future of education and skills in Barnsley.

    · Work in line with our values: Honesty, Teamwork, Excellent Service, and Pride in what we do.
