As a planning officer you will manage your own case-load of varied planning applications and appeals. We are looking for a planner with strong professional skills, sound planning judgement, a good eye for design, as well as a commitment to customer care and team work. You will play your part in ensuring that the council’s excellent performance record is maintained and that there is ongoing improvement in the delivery of the service.

Duties range across the full span of development management tasks with the post holder undertaking case officer duties on a range of application submissions. The post carries out a significant day-to-day professional workload and demands high motivation, initiative, negotiating skills and tact.

You will be dealing with elected members, the public, applicants and objectors to proposals put forward by others in a professional and meaningful manner. A wide and up to date knowledge of legislation is required as well as a judgement skills and a thorough understanding of the economic and social background to the developing environment and a willingness to provide a quality service to customers.

Applications are welcome from recently qualified planners who want to gain some valuable experience and from more experienced planners. The salary will be based on your qualifications, experience and skill set.
