About the team

Through the maintenance of a specialised database, containing information on planning permissions across Hertfordshire, the Planning Data Analysis helps to support growth and development across the county by providing the information needed for data-driven decision making.

Positioned within the county council’s wider Growth and Infrastructure Unit, our team comprises officers working in data management, with specialisms in geospatial analysis and financial monitoring.

Our Planning Data Analysis team plays a vital role in supporting growth and development across Hertfordshire. By maintaining accurate planning permission data, we enable informed, data-driven decisions that shape the county’s future. The team sits within the Growth and Infrastructure Unit and includes colleagues specialising in geospatial analysis and financial monitoring.

About the role

We are looking for a Planning Data Monitoring Officer to help maintain our specialised planning database. This is a detail-oriented role focused on ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Adding new planning permission entries into the database.
  • Updating existing records, including status changes and address details.
  • Participating in periodic on-site surveys as part of a small team, visiting locations with planning permission to verify progress.

The role is essential for keeping information up to date but does not involve progression into further specialised planning or data analysis.

About you

Essential

  • Experience of data entry or data management skills through either professional or academic experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Desirable

  • A basic knowledge of the UK Planning System, focusing on the planning permission process.
  • Full-driving UK driving licence.
