Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join Lancaster City Council as a Planning Data Improvement Officer and play a vital role in enhancing the quality and accessibility of planning data. Your work will support our digital planning improvement journey, ensuring data meets national standards and contributes to our commitment to the Climate Emergency and community safety.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will assist with the Council’s digital improvement projects, gathering, validating, and maintaining spatial and textual planning datasets such as Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings, and Tree Preservation Orders. Collaborating with various teams, you’ll ensure data accuracy and support the publication of datasets on the Planning Data Platform. Your role will also involve contributing to digital maturity assessments and engaging in community training and collaboration.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have GCSEs in English, Maths, and ICT (Grade 5 or above), strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You’re organised, detail-focused, and able to work independently while embracing teamwork and continuous learning. Experience with GIS or spatial data is desirable.
