About the role

A position has arisen for an enthusiastic individual with great communication skills to join our Town Planning administration and support withing the Development Management service, based at the Town Hall, Brentwood. The Planning Administration team handles the administrative and technical process involved in the submission, registration, validation, notification and determination of the 1200 + planning and related applications received each year, as well as various tasks associated with planning appeals.

Based at the Town Hall offices in Brentwood Town Centre for essential training, meetings and support with the possibility for hybrid arrangements, you will be part of a busy and proactive team, working in a paperless environment. Initially dealing with validation and registration of planning applications and enforcement cases, you will also provide administrative support to both the Admin Team Leader and Planning Officers throughout the application process, including preparations for Planning Committee meetings. Administrative duties in connection with the issuing of notices for the collection of Community Infrastructure Levy payments is also a requirement of the role.

The role will require extensive use of the Council’s document management and database systems so strong IT literacy is essential and as the role involves working with plans and architectural drawings, an interest in and ability to interpret these would be desirable. Training and support will be given.
