Location: Council Offices, Benfleet
Job Title: Planned Maintenance and Contract Management Surveyor
Full Time – 37 hours per week
Grade: 9 – Starting £48,226
Castle Point Borough Council is seeking a Planned Maintenance and Contract Management Surveyor to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in managing planned maintenance and facilities management operations across the Council’s corporate estate.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Oversee planned maintenance programmes and facilities management contracts
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, statutory and mandatory regulations
- Prepare building condition surveys, reports, and budget estimates
- Lead procurement processes for service contracts and manage contractor performance
- Act as Responsible Person for asbestos, fire safety, and other regulatory functions
- Contribute to transformation projects and improvements across Council-owned sites
Key Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Highly organised with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and construction-related issues
- Ability to manage budgets and deliver works within timescales
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience in building and planned maintenance across varied property types
- Five years or more experience in the building and construction industry
- Full driving licence and own vehicle
Desirable:
- HND or higher qualification in facilities management
- Previous experience in local authority or public sector
- Knowledge of health and safety policies and risk assessments
