Are you detail-oriented, highly organised, and passionate about delivering excellent financial and administrative support? Erewash Borough Council is looking for a dedicated Payments Officer to join our payments team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of our payments team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing purchase orders and managing supplier invoices to ensure timely payments.
  • Administering payroll changes and allowances for staff and Members.
  • Supporting the concessionary fares scheme by issuing Gold Cards.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, debtors, and suppliers.
  • Negotiating repayment plans and managing sundry debt collections.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and producing reports for audits.
  • Providing general administrative support across the service.

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Proactive and confident in managing financial transactions and deadlines.
  • Skilled in customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Experience of dealing with debt recovery, invoices and payroll.
  • Comfortable working with financial systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Able to make informed decisions and prioritise tasks effectively.
