Loddon Homes are looking for a Payables Assistant to join our Finance team and help ensure smooth, accurate, and timely processing of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier payments. This is a part-time, permanent position.

Loddon Homes and Berry Brook Homes are small, local housing companies with a combined portfolio of 300 homes, built largely in the last 10 years. We are committed to delivering high‑quality homes and services to our residents — and our Finance team plays a central role in making this possible.

As a Payables Assistant, you will work closely with the Management Accountant to maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure that accounts payable processes do not cause delays to the production of management accounts or other financial reporting deadlines.

This post is integral to the smooth operation of finance function, supporting effective financial control, audit readiness and strong relationships with suppliers and internal team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise purchase orders and process invoices in line with budgets
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve queries quickly
  • Prepare invoices for upload into financial systems for approval
  • Monitor payment cycles and outstanding debts, ensuring compliance with financial policies
  • Maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes
  • Provide general support to the Finance team

Candidate requirements:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) including Maths and English
  • Experience working with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Good understanding of financial processes and basic accounting principles
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (desirable)
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
