We are looking for a caring, approachable and committed Pastoral Assistant to join our team and help support the wellbeing, personal development and educational engagement of our pupils.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, families and colleagues to provide effective pastoral support, helping young people overcome barriers to learning and feel safe, valued and ready to succeed.

The role will involve building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and providing individual and small-group pastoral support. You will help pupils with attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement, while encouraging them to develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships.

As part of the role, you will also carry out home visits to support pupils and families, particularly where there are concerns around attendance, engagement or wellbeing. You will therefore need to be confident working in the community and communicating sensitively and professionally with families in their own homes.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals to ensure that pupils receive consistent and appropriate support. The role will also involve contributing to individual pupil plans and interventions, maintaining accurate records and following the schools safeguarding procedures at all times.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people and who is calm, patient, empathetic and approachable. You should be able to communicate effectively with pupils, families and professionals, understand the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality, and be organised, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.

A full driving licence is essential for this role due to the requirement to undertake home visits and travel as part of your pastoral responsibilities.

Previous experience in a pastoral, education, youth work, SEND or similar support role would be an advantage, although we are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate the right values, attitude and commitment to supporting our pupils.
