We have a great opportunity for an Administrative Assistant on a part-time, permanent basis for 24 hours per week.

About you…

You are an experienced and organised administrator who thrives in a busy and collaborative environment. You will bring a proactive and professional approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively when managing multiple tasks. With excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, you are confident liaising with a range of professionals and members of the public. You will also be comfortable using a variety of IT systems and applications to record and manage information accurately.

Above all, you are a team player who takes pride in supporting colleagues and contributing to a service that protects and supports Berkshire’s most vulnerable residents.

This is a part-time position of 24 hours per week, worked as follows:

  • Monday: 9:00am – 5:00pm (7.5 hours, including break)
  • Tuesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm (7.5 hours, including break)
  • Thursday: 12:30pm – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 12:30pm – 5:00pm

About the team…

The Berkshire Emergency Duty Service (EDS) provides vital out-of-hours social care support for residents across Berkshire. Our specialist team includes Approved Mental Health Professionals, Senior Social Workers (Children), Adult Safeguarding Care Coordinators and Call Screening Officers. Together, we work closely with health partners, the police and families to assess and support individuals experiencing a social care crisis outside of normal working hours.

This is an exciting time to join us as we have recently remodelled our service structure to further strengthen the quality and responsiveness of our work. EDS is recognised as a safe, effective and compassionate service, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults across Berkshire, with positive feedback from both Ofsted and the CQC. You will be part of a highly skilled, multi-professional team that’s dedicated to making a real difference when people need it most.

Key responsibilities…

As a part-time Administrator within the Berkshire Emergency Duty Service, you will:

  • Provide administrative support to the team, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Manage and prioritise incoming calls and communications in a calm and professional manner.
  • Accurately record, maintain and update information using a range of IT systems and databases.
  • Support team processes including scheduling, document preparation and data entry.
  • Liaise effectively with professionals, agencies and members of the public to facilitate timely responses.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues as required during periods of high demand.
