Come and join Portsmouth City Council’s expanding Suspension Team and play a key role in supporting residents, businesses and city-wide projects. This varied position combines office-based administration and customer service with practical on-street duties, helping to ensure parking suspensions are arranged efficiently and professionally across the city.

Your new role

As a Parking Suspension Officer, you will process and coordinate parking suspension requests, arrange quotations, maintain accurate records and provide advice and support to customers via telephone, email and in person. You will work closely with residents, businesses, event organisers and council departments to ensure suspensions are delivered in line with legal requirements and service standards.

The role also includes daily on-street activities such as installing and removing suspension signage and temporary street furniture, using a PCC service vehicle to support the delivery of the service across Portsmouth.

Who is the person summary:

We are looking for a customer-focused and organised individual with experience in administration and customer service. You will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while working accurately in a fast-paced environment.

You will be a positive team player who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and delivering excellent customer service. Strong IT skills are essential, and you must hold a full UK manual driving licence, as the role includes regular driving. You also need to be physically fit as there will be a requirement to physically lift signage and street furniture.

This role is based 5 days per week in the Civic Offices and on the streets, please ensure you can fulfil this prior to submitting your application.
