We are looking for a Paralegal to join our Legal Services Team and to help across the organisation.

We don’t mind if you don’t have experience – enthusiasm to get stuck into this important support role is far more important.

We are multi-disciplinary and undertake work from fly-tipping to multi-million pound regeneration projects and everything in between.

Rushmoor is on the Government Devolution Priority Programme for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). We have a significant piece of work to do so that we are ready to become part of a unitary council in 2028, with lots of different workstreams – from helping HR with employment law input, to reviewing all the contracts across the council. There will be a chance to help with drafting and interpreting property documents and investigating title to registered and unregistered land.

That means lots of development opportunities for someone keen to learn. We are a crucial support service for the whole council. The role will require working with officers across all our service areas including but not limited to Housing, Property, HR / People Team. You must be able to get on with people, want to understand their needs, and want to help the council fulfil its ambitions.

This is in an exciting opportunity involving a wide variety of work across multiple service areas and contribute to a high-profile public-sector transformation programme. One day you may be doing a piece of research and drafting documents for the Head of Legal Services, the next assisting housing with an FOIA enquiry.

As well supporting the lawyers including the Deputy Head and Head of Legal Services and the Data Protection Officer you will also be spending time in other departments, providing assistance and support where required. The overarching aim of the role is to deliver a safe and legal LGR.

Although this is a hybrid role, you must be able and willing to work in the office.

We are looking for recent graduates with either a law degree or conversion course, seeking legal experience in a busy, friendly multi-disciplinary team. Must have bags of energy and be willing to learn. We are very much a team who all muck in together. We don’t really do hierarchy, but we do development opportunities, meaning enthusiasm for the work and personal development is key.

To apply, please submit your CV and a supporting statement explaining how you meet the requirements of the role. You will also be required to complete some screening questions.

This vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate is appointed. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
