Job Description
Salary: £28,344 - £31,719 per annum
Grade: C
Permanent Contract
37 Hours per Week with the requirement to work on a rota system including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Exciting opportunities to join our Youth & Outdoor Education Team within Thurrock Council as we continue to develop Grangewaters Outdoor Education Centre in 2025.
Our 70-acre centre includes cabined residential villages, a 25-acre lake, a large climbing/ high ropes facility and numerous adventurous activities, including sailing, kayaking, archery, mountain biking, and many more. The centre delivers a wide range of educational programmes for all ages and abilities in addition to our family activities, corporate days, celebration events and training courses.
We are looking for instructors who have passion and drive to join us in making a difference to children, young people and adults both in Thurrock and beyond; delivering high quality activities with excellent customer care skills.
You will have a proven track record of working in a busy multi-activity centre, be able to think on your feet and have good time management skills; always ready to have fun whilst ensuring the highest levels of safety standards.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:
- At least 1 previous season's experience
- Competence in leading sessions for young people
- Delivering activities to meet learning outcomes
- Be first aid qualified
- Be qualified in at least two of the following, one of which will be from the first three:
- RYA Dinghy instructor
- PSI (or above)
- Climbing Wall Instructor/ROI
- GNAS (Archery) or in-house assessed
Hours are 37 per week, with the requirement to work on a rota basis to cover weekends, evenings and bank holidays
Our instructor team are required to participate in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment and facilities as a part of their duties.
Experience of work with clients with additional needs is desirable
An Enhanced DBS Check with Children's Barred List will be required for this role.
