This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Winchester district that is rich in history with a thriving, vibrant, and diverse economy.
You will play a key role in the delivery of the council’s ambitious council house building and acquisition programme.
With a current council housing stock of over 5000 homes, around 500 new council homes already completed, and a strong forward funded development programme, the council has ambitious plans to meet its Council Plan priority of Good Homes for All.
We are looking for an experienced professional with extensive housing development and acquisition experience who can bring pace and determination to the role. Reporting to the Service Lead for New Homes, this role will require strong programme management experience as well as the ability to undertake financial viability appraisals to recognise and evaluate new affordable housing development and acquisition opportunities and lead legal negotiations to a successful conclusion. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering high performing services, leading multi-disciplinary teams and working across organisations to deliver priorities.
This opportunity will appeal to candidates looking for a role with a wide range of commercial and delivery responsibilities and someone who is able to work at a senior level, represent the council with partners and stakeholders and work closely with Members and senior officers.
It will be a challenging and enjoyable role, and we pride ourselves on our team spirit and ability to get things done.
In return, we offer an excellent package of benefits including:
- Employer paid health cash plan
- Salary sacrifice scheme for cars and bikes
- 26 days annual leave per year rising to 34 days - dependent on length of service (plus additional Christmas leave, flexi-time and option to buy further annual leave)
- Membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Discounts at a range of major high street brands and the two leisure centres in the district
- Season Ticket loans
- Support for continuous professional development
Salary range
- £61,385 - £67,596 per year
