We are now recruiting for a Multiple Debt Caseworker

Make a Difference to Residents' Lives

We are seeking a compassionate and pro-active customer focussed professional to join our team in the newly created role of Multiple Debt Caseworker, to help deliver the Council's Single View of Debt approach.

In this role, you will work with residents who have debts across multiple services owed to the Council, supporting them to improve their financial circumstances while ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to debt management.

The role is well suited to hybrid working and you will be able to split your time between working in Castle House and from home. How your hours are worked can be agreed with your line manager as the role does require some occasional evening work, up to 7pm The reason for this is to ensure that you are liaising with our residents at times which are convenient to them.

What you will do in this role:

  • Develop and manage the Single View of Debt programme
  • Act as a single point of contact for residents, helping them to develop sustainable repayment plans, access welfare support, maximise benefits and discounts, and connect with specialist debt advice services where appropriate.
  • Manage a caseload, providing a customer centred and supportive approach throughout
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the Council to support our customers and at the same time, maximise income to the Council.
  • Analyse data and present the results.

What We're Looking For

You'll be someone who genuinely wants to help people while maintaining a focus on achieving outcomes.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Experience of customer service and debt management
  • Experience of working within relevant legislation associated with debt collection.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems.
  • An understanding of financial planning and awareness of welfare and benefits support.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to regular lunchtime crafting sessions, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer:

  • Enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme.
  • Flexi scheme.
  • Hybrid working.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service.
  • Family-friendly benefits.
  • One days’ paid volunteering leave.
  • Lifestyle benefits platform.
  • Funded health cash plan.
  • Free car parking to 31 March 2028
  • £10 a month gym membership at one of our gyms in the district.

You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
