The Headteacher and Governors of Newton Primary School are delighted to invite applications for the role of Relief Midday Supervisor, to join our friendly and caring school community.

We are looking for a kind, enthusiastic and reliable person who enjoys spending time with children and helping to make lunchtimes a happy, safe and positive part of the school day. The successful candidate will take an active role in supporting children during lunch, encouraging good manners, positive behaviour and inclusive play.

You will work closely with a supportive team and will be encouraged to use your initiative while helping pupils to feel valued and cared for. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. Experience of working with children would be an advantage, but is not essential – a warm and nurturing approach is most important.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising children while they eat their lunch in the hall
  • Supporting and encouraging safe, interactive play on the playground
  • Promoting the welfare, happiness and safety of all pupils at lunchtime

Provisional Interview Date: 14 January 2025

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
