Level 3 Apprenticeship (Grade 3, £24,796 to £25,989 per annum)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team and are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join us at East Staffordshire Borough Council as a Mayoral, Democratic Services and Civic Function Suite Apprentice.
The Legal and Regulatory Services Department is a dynamic, multi-skilled team set at the heart of the Council, incorporating the Legal, Assets and Democratic Services, Environmental Health and Enforcement Team who undertake a broad range of activities as listed in the specific duties in the job description.
The apprenticeship work programme will be flexible, with the Apprentice supporting different teams at different times to meet business needs and gain valuable experience across all areas of activity.
This apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to build a career in local government, to gain a broad range of practical local government experience and gain a recognised qualification while working in a fast-paced and diverse team. Full training and mentoring/support will be provided to the Apprentice throughout the term.
We are looking for somebody who has:
- Great interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other IT applications
- Accuracy and attention to detail
During the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will undertake vocational training and perform a variety of administrative and related tasks across the range of activities delivered by the Legal, Assets and Democratic Services Department, including:
- Support to the Mayoralty
- Democratic Services
- Civic Function Suite

The appointment is for a fixed term, 2-year contract and subject to performance, the Apprentice may be considered for permanent positions should they arise during the initial two-year contract, if a permanent vacancy is advertised during the apprenticeship, the Apprentice is welcome to submit an application in line with the Council’s recruitment process.
The contracted hours of work are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a flexible working hours scheme.
