To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

<li>Demonstrable research skills, to enable quick and effective grasp of information from a range of sources on a wide range of policy topics, and proven experience of policy briefing in a political/ public sector organisation.</li>
<li>Experience of working directly with influential, high-profile people in a pressured environment and in dealing with confidential/sensitive issues and documents; the ability to work in a politically complex organisation and apply political awareness</li>
<li>Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills, including experience of writing a range of different styles of document for different audiences, often within very short timescales; experience of producing information for media work and/or briefings for media interviews or policy work.</li>

The Committee Services team has a vacancy for a Committee Assistant supporting the work of the London Assembly and its committees. RUTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL
VACANCY FOR INDEPENDENT MEMBER – AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE
Rutland County Council is committed to the highest standards of corporate governance, and our Audit and Risk Committee is a key part of ensuring that we meet those standards. The Council is currently looking to appoint an independent co-opted member of the Committee, to become a part of its work in promoting excellence in governance, risk management, financial reporting and counter fraud.
Independent Members will be expected to actively participate in meetings of the Audit and Risk Committee and demonstrate independence, integrity, objectivity and impartiality in their decision-making. As part of this rewarding role, they will support the Council’s Audit and Risk Committee in providing independent assurance to the members of Rutland County Council, and its wider citizens and stakeholders.
Independent Members are non-voting members of the Committee, who assist in overseeing internal and external audit arrangements, reviewing and scrutinising statement of accounts, and reviewing and assessing the governance, risk management and control of the authority.

The appointment is for three years. Co-opted independent members do not receive an allowance but are entitled to claim for reasonable travelling and subsistence expenses in undertaking their role.&nbsp;
Successful candidates will be expected to attend approximately four ordinary meetings per year plus any additional special meetings called for matters of urgency. The meetings currently take place at the council offices, Catmose House, Oakham. They will also need to commit sufficient time to read Committee papers in advance of these meetings, liaise with the Chair and to undertake occasional training alongside the other Committee members.

The Hastings &amp; St Leonards Foreshore Charitable Trust is seeking an independent Protector to oversee the integrity of the charity’s administration and ensure compliance with its objectives.
As Protector, you will act as an impartial guardian of the Trust, ensuring its activities align with its charitable purposes. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the charity is administered with integrity and transparency, reporting any concerns to the Charity Commission, providing advice to the trustee, and undertaking tasks as required. You will also be responsible for preparing an annual statement of activities and findings for publication.
To be eligible for this role, it is desirable that you hold a qualification awarded by a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB). You must not have been a councillor, officer, employee, or paid consultant of the Council or any of its controlled organisations within the last five years. Additionally, you must not have any significant interest in contracts with the Council, except for minor shareholdings of less than one percent.
The Protector may receive reasonable remuneration, with expenses and indemnity insurance covered. Firms or companies associated with the Protector may also receive fair compensation for services provided under their instruction.
