We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as Independent Remuneration Panel members within the Democratic and Registration Services Department.
This is a voluntary position with specific requirements in accordance with the constitution of Bracknell Forest Council.
<h3>About you...</h3>
As an Independent Remuneration Panel member, you will make recommendations to Bracknell Forest Council relating to allowances. The aim of your role as a volunteer is to ensure that public funds are utilised efficiently, whilst ensuring Councillors are fairly reimbursed for their responsibilities.
<h3>About the team...</h3>
The Independent Remuneration Panel consists of five members who review the allowance schemes at Bracknell Forest Council. The chair will lead the panel through each review. Bracknell Forest Council will provide administrative support to research and collate information required to support the work.
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>
Each review you will be expected to:
<ul>
<li>Consider and make recommendations on allowances within Bracknell Forest Council.</li>
<li>Attend two one-day meetings per review.</li>
<li>Read and understand the information on how the authority operates and the roles and responsibilities of councillors as provided by the authority.</li>
<li>Read papers and reports, giving careful consideration to evidence and information provided at meetings by officers and ask questions on this evidence.</li>
<li>Attend virtual interview sessions which will be organised based on the availability of panel members and interviewees. The report of the Independent Remuneration Panel’s recommendations will be prepared by the chair.</li>
</ul>

Role summary
To support the Electoral Services Manager in the oversight and management of the coordination, planning, and execution of all elections conducted within the London Borough of Redbridge. To contribute to the effective administration and operation of the Electoral Services function, including delivery of the annual canvass, implementation of Individual Electoral Registration (IER), compilation and publication of the revised Register of Electors, and ensuring adherence to the provisions of the Elections Act 2022.
To coordinate and deliver outreach initiatives aimed at promoting voter registration.
To lead and manage members of the Electoral Services team where necessary as directed by the Electoral Services Manager.

We are looking for a committed and highly motivated individual who enjoys working in a small but busy and successful team dealing with the delivery of electoral registration and elections.
Within this responsible role, you will assist directly with the management and administration of all aspects of the electoral registration process and the management of all types of elections.
You will be expected to take on the responsibility for some aspects of these processes and so experience in electoral administration and the demands of elections is essential.
If necessary, you will be encouraged to undertake training in all aspects of electoral administration and elections, including the AeA Foundation course and in due course the AeA Certificate.
You have good IT skills and experience of electoral management software (Xpress) is desirable.
You must able to work efficiently, planning and prioritising in order to meet statutory deadlines as well as ensuring accuracy.
Good communication skills are essential, and you should be committed to promoting electoral registration, especially to hard to reach individuals.

About the role
We are looking for a Senior Democratic Services Officer&nbsp;in our proactive and friendly team.&nbsp; Ideally you will have experience of working in a local authority democratic services team but if you are an experienced professional with transferrable skills and a willingness to learn our procedures and relevant legislation quickly, this could be the job for you.&nbsp;
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality democratic services, supporting council meetings, civic duties and constitutional processes. &nbsp;Confidence in applying legal and procedural knowledge is important—but if you are new to local government, we will help you get there.
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will lead and contribute to project work aimed at enhancing democratic services and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our governance arrangements.&nbsp; You will play an active role in identifying opportunities for service improvement and implementing best practice.&nbsp; If you have experience in these areas this could be a great new opportunity for you.&nbsp;
Familiarity with the&nbsp;Modern.Gov committee management system&nbsp;is a bonus, but it’s not essential.&nbsp; What matters most is your attention to detail, organisational skills, and enthusiasm to learn and grow in a governance-focused role.

Politically Restricted Post: This is a politically restricted post under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, which imposes limitations on the political activities of the post holder.</li>

The Hastings &amp; St Leonards Foreshore Charitable Trust is seeking an independent Protector to oversee the integrity of the charity’s administration and ensure compliance with its objectives.
As Protector, you will act as an impartial guardian of the Trust, ensuring its activities align with its charitable purposes. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the charity is administered with integrity and transparency, reporting any concerns to the Charity Commission, providing advice to the trustee, and undertaking tasks as required. You will also be responsible for preparing an annual statement of activities and findings for publication.
To be eligible for this role, it is desirable that you hold a qualification awarded by a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB). You must not have been a councillor, officer, employee, or paid consultant of the Council or any of its controlled organisations within the last five years. Additionally, you must not have any significant interest in contracts with the Council, except for minor shareholdings of less than one percent.
The Protector may receive reasonable remuneration, with expenses and indemnity insurance covered. Firms or companies associated with the Protector may also receive fair compensation for services provided under their instruction.

The successful applicant will work well in a team, have good IT skills, a drive to innovate new ways of providing our service to improve the customer experience. This role is for three days per week, working pattern is flexible but must include Fridays.
