Marketing and Sponsorship Lead
Job Description
Discover yourself in Lewisham where what you do makes a difference to our vibrant and culturally diverse communities!
Introduction
Are you a commercially driven marketer bursting with ideas? Do you love building partnerships, spotting opportunities and turning creativity into real revenue? If so, this is your chance to shape a bold new approach to income generation across one of London’s dynamic boroughs.
What’s the role?
Lewisham Council is looking for a Marketing and Sponsorship Lead who can combine creative flair with sharp commercial instincts. This is a newly created role that sits in the Communications and Engagement team. You will develop and drive a strategy that unlocks the commercial potential of the Council’s assets – from our buildings to high‑profile events to digital channels - while connecting businesses and partners with meaningful opportunities that benefit local communities.
This is your opportunity to play a transformative role: generating income, shaping the Council’s commercial identity, and forging partnerships with organisations across London and beyond.
This role is temporary for 12 months.
What’s in it for you?
Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:
- Generous holiday allowance
- Local Government Pension scheme
- Flexible working and family friendly policies
- Season ticket and bicycle loans
- A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
- Supportive staff networks
What we’re looking for
This role would suit someone maybe wanting to make a shift from fundraising in the charity sector, or someone with a sales background. We are flexible in how the role could work and would be happy to discuss part time hours if that suits you better.
The role is a fixed term contract for one year, but once it becomes sustainable and reaches a threshold point, it will be extended with the potential to become a permanent addition to the Comms and Engagement team.
If you’re excited by the challenge of driving commercial growth while doing work that benefits communities, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a readvertised post, previous applicants need not apply.
Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
