Sefton is a vibrant coastal borough with iconic destinations like Southport, Crosby, and Formby. Our events calendar is central to, driving tourism, celebrating culture, and boosting the economy. From the Southport Air Show and music festivals to markets and cultural events, we create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.
We’re seeking a dynamic Major Events Officer to join our dedicated team. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, excel at project management, and are passionate about delivering exceptional events– this role is for you!
As a Major Events Officer, you’ll assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Sefton’s major events portfolio. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, external partners, sponsors, and community groups to ensure events are safe, sustainable, and impactful.
- End-to-end event management - Plan, coordinate, and evaluate major events (5,000+ attendees), ensuring they align with council objectives.
- Stakeholder engagement - Build partnerships with, contractors, emergency services, sponsors, and community organisations.
- Logistics & compliance- Oversee risk assessments, licenses, budgets, health & safety, and sustainability practices.
- Marketing support - Work with the destination marketing team to promote events and maximise attendance.
- Problem-solving - Proactively address challenges during planning and live delivery.

Salary range
- £37,280 - £40,777 per year
