This Local Area Coordinator role is based in the Old Coulsdon community and whilst driving is not a requirement; you must be able to travel to and around the area to be considered for this role. Candidates with a UK driving licence and have a car are preferred.
There will be occasional work outside of normal office hours, during evenings and weekends.

As a Local Area Coordinator working in Old Coulsdon, you’ll be rooted in the area working with local people, families and the community. You will become a familiar presence and a trusted point of contact for local people.
You will use a person centred and strengths-based approach to help people improve their health and wellbeing, build resilience, strengthen natural networks and navigate complex systems. You’ll also play a vital role in helping communities grow stronger, more inclusive and more connected.

About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with people and has:

Excellent local knowledge of Croydon (ideally Old Coulsdon specifically) and its diverse communities.
- Proven experience supporting marginalised individual people and families from diverse backgrounds in a similar role.

Strong listening and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to working with people.
- Knowledge and skills in strengths-based, person-centred, and holistic approaches, with the ability to help people shape and pursue their own goals.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Creative and independent problem-solving ability.
- Ability to risk assess and act autonomously whilst complying with procedures and practices.
- Good knowledge of the health and social care system, and other statutory and/or voluntary services.
- A solid understanding and experience of safeguarding practice and processes.
- Cultural and inclusive competence.
