    Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Licensing Services Assistant to join our team here at St Helens Borough Council.

    Licensing Services carries out an important regulatory function, undertaking a range of duties to help ensure public safety and support business within the borough along with providing the Councils local land charges service.

    The role involves providing excellent customer service in local authority licensing, including taxis, venues and premises, large scale events, and everything in between, including Alcohol, Entertainment, and Gambling. This is a very varied and fast paced role where full training and support will be provided

    The team enforce the law, investigate complaints, provide advice and guidance and process applications within legal timeframes and work closely with a variety of stakeholders including internal and external partner organisations such as the Police, Fire Service and local businesses.

    The role includes processing applications and producing licences within legislative timescales, inputting presenting and interrogating statistical data, providing professional advice to licensing enquiries, arranging and carrying out face to face appointments, dealing with requests for service, identifying service improvements, and liaising with internal and external agencies.

    We would love to hear from candidates that have:

    • Excellent communication skills
    • A professional, welcoming and positive attitude
    • Ability to multi-task and manage a varied workload in a flexible environment
    • Strong organisation and attention to detail skills
    • Good IT skills and experience of using Office application including Word, Excel and Outlook


    Previous experience in this field would be welcome but is not necessary as full training will be provided.
