Library Information Assistant – Casual

Libraries are more than collection of books; they are hubs for community activities, places to access digital technology, and gateways to reading, information and wellbeing. Wirral Libraries exist to help people to live better lives for longer.

We are looking to appoint several enthusiastic casual Library Information Assistants, who are passionate about reading, library services and their communities.

About the Role:

You will help to deliver and support a programme of activities and library events, proactively helping people of all ages and from all backgrounds. You will support the provision of information and advice on council and partner services, as the first point of contact you will help provide better outcomes for our residents.

Flexibility is key as one moment you may be helping customers to log-on to the library WI-FI, then help download an eBook, or lead events such as Baby Rhyme Time session for parents and babies in a creative way. The variety of our work means that no two days are the same, therefore using your initiative and working without supervision is essential. We get huge job satisfaction from helping everyone that comes through our doors, and you could too!

About the candidate:

You must be customer focused, a keen team player, have excellent digital skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service and be capable of dealing positively with change and willing to embrace innovative ways of working.”

Please note this is a physically active role and will include carrying books, pushing trolleys, lifting boxes and being on your feet for long periods of time.

Successful applicants will need to work flexibly across our network of library sites within the Borough.

The role is offered on a casual worker with no fixed hours. Shifts are determined by service need to provide operational relief and are managed via the services staff management system, Staff Savvy.
