Brackenwood Infant School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, caring and highly motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team. This permanent role will support provision within our SEND classrooms, working alongside experienced staff to ensure children with a range of additional needs can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our SEND classrooms provide a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment where children are supported to develop communication, independence, emotional regulation and confidence, enabling them to access learning successfully and achieve their individual goals.
At Brackenwood, our values of kindness, effort and resilience underpin everything we do. We are proud of our inclusive ethos and our commitment to ensuring every child receives the support they need to flourish. We are looking for a professional who shares these values and is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with additional needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the SENDCo and external professionals to deliver personalised support, adapt learning activities and implement strategies that meet the needs of individual pupils. Experience of supporting children with SEND, including autism, speech and language needs, sensory needs and social, emotional and mental health needs, would be advantageous. As many of the children accessing our SEND provision are of Year 1 / Foundation 2 age, experience of supporting children within the Early Years Foundation Stage would also be highly desirable.
We are seeking someone who:
Has experience of working with children with additional needs, preferably within an Early Years or primary school setting.
Understands the importance of inclusive practice and personalised support.
Can build positive, trusting relationships with children and families.
Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience and a calm approach.
Is confident supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development.
Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Has high expectations and believes every child can achieve success.
Is flexible, proactive and committed to ongoing professional development.
In return, we can offer:
Wonderful children who bring unique strengths, personalities and achievements to our school community.
A highly supportive and experienced School and SEND team.
Access to high-quality training and professional development.
A welcoming and inclusive school where staff wellbeing is valued.
The opportunity to make a lasting difference to children's lives and educational experiences.
Brackenwood Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and all other safer recruitment checks.
