These are excellent opportunities for aspiring legal professionals to gain broad experience within a busy and supportive local government legal service. You will provide high-quality legal and administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient delivery of legal advice and casework to the Council and partner organisations.
Working closely with lawyers and legal professionals, you will manage files and workflows, prepare and process legal documentation, liaise with clients, courts, tribunals and external organisations, and maintain accurate, compliant and audit-ready records. In addition, you will have the opportunity to manage a small caseload of straightforward matters under supervision, allowing you to develop your legal knowledge and practical experience.
We offer agile and hybrid working, a collaborative team environment, and opportunities to learn and develop your legal career while contributing to services that make a real difference to our communities.
About you
You will hold a paralegal or similar qualification or equivalent experience and have a genuine interest in developing your legal career within a busy and professional legal service.
You will be:
- Organised, methodical and highly attentive to detail
- Motivated, proactive and able to work on your own initiative
- Customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Skilled at building positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and external partners
- A collaborative and supportive team player who contributes positively to shared objectives
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
- Committed to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and high standards of service delivery
Experience of working within a legal environment, including litigation, property or contracts work, would be advantageous. Experience within Local Government or the wider public sector is also desirable.
Most importantly, you will bring enthusiasm, a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering a responsive, efficient and professional legal support service.
Join us to make a positive impact in our community by putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do, while living our values of trust, care, collaboration, confidence and customer focus.
