Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for legal assistants to join our Housing and Civil Litigation team. The postholder will support HB Public Law by carrying out legal work and developing, implementing and supporting cutting edge practice management processes.

HB Public Law is a shared service between a number of local authorities in Northwest London and home counties. Staffs are employed by the London Borough of Harrow but they work for several public sector clients.

About You

Skills and experience required:

  • Be educated to degree standard or equivalent in law, or hold a recognised qualification in law, or be studying for a recognised legal qualification, or have substantial experience of working in a legal environment in lieu of qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of English Law, practice and procedure in public law and an interest in local authority legal work.
  • Strong team player with the ability to contribute positively to a team.
  • Ability to provide written and oral legal advice and guidance to officers and clients.
  • Opportunity to hold your own cases, and work on complex cases with senior lawyers.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.

Candidates will be required to attend court, may work unsocial hours where necessary and should be willing to undergo a Disclosure Barring Service check (DBS).
