
Learning Support Assistant with MDSA duty
Job introduction
The Governors of Rudyard Kipling Primary School and Nursery wish to appoint a charismatic, highly motivated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant. This post is to support a child who will access alternative provision within our school who requires individualised, creative and purposeful provision. This post is attached to the child and, should their placement change, the role would end.
Paid weeks per year: 47.36 LSA, 43.89 MDSA (inclusive of holiday entitlement)

Start date: Monday 5th January 2026
About the role
We are looking for a special person:
- To join and further develop our nurturing and inclusive culture that strives for all children to reach their full potential
- To support the learning of children working at or at a pre-key stage level
- To plan fun, creative, playful and engaging activities
- To be reflective, resilient and flexible
- To work within a team in partnership with the SENCo, class teachers and other colleagues to support the children in achieving the best outcomes
- To dynamically risk assess and manage children’s safety
- To believe in outdoor education and embrace our wonderful grounds and resources
- To follow our school’s Empowerment Approach and school values to enhance the children’s learning
- To understand different strategies which support SEND learners such as: Just Right, Makaton, visuals, structure and routine
- To have experience of supporting children who can sometimes demonstrate challenging needs and physical behaviour
- To establish positive relationships with parents and families
